What We Want to Say: Collaborative Practices in Contemporary Art

A sheet of paper. A gesture. A sign that says what you want to say.
This conference was an invitation to think of art as a space for connection.

We explored collaborative practices in contemporary art, from Gillian Wearing’s street posters to Yoko Ono’s participatory poetry, and the collective actions of Guerrilla Girls. The conversation focused on how we can create together—whether in the classroom, in the museum, or on the streets. The talk also included two case studies, where we explored how collaboration can be a tool for learning, mediation, and cultural production, both in teaching and curating.

We made something with our hands.
And then, we traded it.
